Individual psychotherapy

Individual psychotherapy offers a safe space to think and talk about our emotions and thoughts that we have about ourselves and important people or events in our life.

The therapist assists with questions and interpretations to help understand what is really happening in the person’s life at the moment and how may be influenced by past experiences and unconscious drivers. An important part of the work is naming what happens in the sessions as you talk together. Developing a broader emotional contact with oneself and understanding of the different mechanisms allows one to make conscious choices based on what you need and not to be driven by your past experiences.

The sessions last 50-minutes and take place once or twice a week. The length of the process depends on the complexity of the issues that are to be worked through.

The whole process starts with 1-3 consultations aimed at building a thorough understanding of the situation and motivation to start psychotherapy. After that a contract is set for regular sessions at specific dates and hours in the week.
